BFC off to a flying startSix-nil will do for starters and not bad for a team fielding no major pre-season signings. Clinical finishing and some impressive possession football did for a Sala side which was never really at the races.Deepest Saitama. Train hell. How many years have we been doing this for. Jay Bailey back in the line-up. Old school. If only we still had the 'Eigotown' kit.
Two minutes gone: 1-0. It usually takes at least an hour to break down Sala, who will have had the hump at letting an up-and-under slip bobble all the way through to Paul Wadsworth, who cheekily prodded the ball home to leave Filet Mignon a little crispy around the edges. More... Vags 5 - 3 DutchFinally, after the ennui of the world cup (apart from the England bits – tee hee) we got back to the stuff that matters. A relatively impromptu gathering of certain Vags alumni as of a Friday evening in some subterranean area of fashionable Hammamatscho brought forth reminisces of self injury during childhood and later life. Assorted tidbits were: Axed himself in the forehead whilst chopping wood upwards / Tested how far his finger could go in a mangle before getting caught – it did / Attempting to solve a mysterious blockage in a science lab by running a Bunsen burner along the highly combustible filled tubing (goggles off cause it wasn’t cool) / Stabbing himself through the foot with a pitchfork whilst telling his younger brother that he was too young for this kind of thing……….Christ…it’s a wonder anybody in the team can kick the ball in the right direction, never mind score goals and win games. More.....BFC through to Summer 7s FinalsBFC scrambled their way past competitive opposition to top group C while YCAC strolled comfortably past their contemporaries in group D to both move into the semi finals. See TML report for more Vags win IFFL Sevens LeagueVags beat the Lions 6-1 on Thursday evening and in doing so were confirmed as champions of the IFFL Sevens League for the third time in a row.Once again we won all of our matches which is no mean feat in a league with two TML 1 based teams and a team made up mainly of Nike academy players. Unfortunately, injury prevented two of our regular players Steve Glenn and Adrian Thomas from making many appearances this seaon and so we thank all those who helped us out, especially Brian Doyle and Taka Imai who helped us overcome the Nike team in a closely fought 1-0 victory. BFC scrape through and get into Yokota AirbaseAfter a bit of palava getting into the base which included, forgotten passports, passports unavailable due to being in for renewal, a drivers license that wouldn't have worked without a pin number (which was remembered just before resigning to the long journey back home) and an expired Alien registration card... BFC only suffered one loss at the gate. Our hats go off to the Yokota lads were very courteous and hospitable hosting this three way friendly with Yokota, Swiss and BFC. More.....
