The next pool evening will be held on Friday October 19th (cunningly coinciding with a BFC ladies night out so the lads are free)(also picked as a final bonding exercise before THE game on the 21st). The venue is once again handily Bagus in Roppongi - great tables and relatively quiet - and it is located in the ROI building -(same building as Paddy Foley's). No obligation to be there on the night BUT the idea is for you to check your group and make your own arrangements to play each other and occasionally we will have a night where hopefully a few can congregate and get a few beers out the way....(eh...games out the way). Nobody has done this so far. If it just comes down to the nights I pick then it will take longer than a Rangers players trying to control a ball to finish the tourney. If you are in doubt as to who is in your group - just check the BFC site and go to Pool & Darts and all will be almost mystically revealed. As mentioned, if you can't make it...be proactive and contact the others you need to play. All results can then be sent to straughanrichard@hotmail.com.

For info for those in my group- I can't make it till 9ish due to work.

Cheers and hope to see you then - Richard

RULES

First round games will be best of 7 and game is over when one player reaches 4. Subsequent rounds will be decided on after feedback on this. For the mini league sections…..’goal difference’ will count in the event of even points. Points are simply 1 point for a win and 0 for a loss. There can’t be a draw.

The way it will work is that if the two people involved agree on rules that they discuss before they play then that is fine – they can go ahead and play according to these. If they don’t agree then the rules to be followed are as laid down by me (see below). I am not in the business of writing sports rules and there is plenty of room to add stuff as the tourneys progress – comments welcome.

DARTS RULES

Simply 501 – no double needed to start but has to be double (or bull) finish. That’s it.

POOL RULES - 2 shots carry following all fouls – including on the black - Not necessary to name your pocket with the exception of the black – if the black goes into a pocket other than nominated then game is lost - Potting the black off the break is a loss - Following your opponent pocketing the white - the white can then be placed anywhere behind the line and can be played in any direction (does not have to be ‘up table’) - If two balls (or more) of a different designation are potted from break then the player who broke can choose whether to be spots or stripes. Once the choice is made, even if a ball is not potted, then it remains so for the duration of the game - If a player commits a foul and his opponent cannot then see both sides of one of his own balls then it is given as a ‘free table’ and the player can hit any ball on the table with no penalty with his first shot. If he chooses to pot an opponents’ ball then two shots will carry.
