[edit] 10-man BFC squish GeckoesEven when he is sent off Carlos Aranda makes an impact. TML Champions BFC went from 2-1 and not overly impressive to 5-1 after 'El Mulleto' (you were warned, Carlos) got his marching orders for an ill-advised shove on a Geckoes player. More... [edit] Sudden death ends Vags cup runIt looked like rain all day. A few drops fell, it seemed to be rain anyway, during the second half causing the ball to bounce that bit higher. It scuppered a break away run when Kev Gray punted and sprinted after and then under the bouncing ball. Making fools of us on that occasion. I say us because the midfield charged after him in case of a rebound. James Buchanan was off for a rest – a cheetah can only sprint a couple of times without making a kill or it will die itself. [edit] Fun of the Cup'El Tank' Carlos Aranda's first goal in BFC's 8-0 evisceration of the Wall Street Clash prompted one of the two-man crowd to remark: 'That's not very sporting is it!'
[edit] BFC get bitten by the LionsBFC’s season seems to have hit a snag after they were caught out by some very physical and hungry Lions. BFC have also made it a habit of not writing match reports when they lose. But this time, instead of claiming amnesia or lack of visual acuity, BFC will humbly eat pie this week and accept the “shame.” We were well and truly beaten. More...[edit] BFC Back on TopBFC continued their impressive scoring streak with a record 7-0 victory over Swiss Kickers at Hachioji Park. The win sends BFC back to the top of the table, though Hibs retain the advantage with two games in hand, not to mention a number of teams also close by. Alex S, Kesikue, Dan, Evans, Pabs and Jon were in the goals this week, as BFC punished a disjointed Swiss side. Two nil up at the break, having survived a sustained period of pressure from the Swiss team in the last 15 minutes of the half, BFC stepped up a gear and set about making life difficult for their rivals all over the park. The forwards were rewarded with some great goals, but this was a strong performance from back to front and bodes well for up coming fixtures.Click here to read more. (Be warned, this page may at some point in the future contain a match report from Evans.) [edit] BFC only write match reports if they win 5-0?After two tough league matches, BFC got back on track with a convincing 5-0 victory against BEFC. In their new red and white kit, BFC looked the part, and after a patient start finally produced the football and the goals to match. A first half lead of 1-0 came courtesy of a header from Pabs, though the Embassy were very much still in the hunt. A more dominant display from BFC in the second half paid dividends as the Embassy tired and BFC secured all 3 points to go back to second in the table behind the in-form Hibs. Two great goals from Keisuke, a goal on his return from injury for Evans, and a goal bound shot from Alex Sahara neatly deflected in off Pabs' arse giving the keeper no chance completed the scoring for the BFC. For more on this, including a detailed summary of Dan's greatest ever cameo at right back click here... [edit] First bit of Silverware of the season for BFCThe highland games soccer tournament was largely ignored by the festival visitors. There were only six teams, one of them from Iraq and the others made up of Japanese, British, American and Irish. BFC/Vagabonds won the first game with a last second goal and the second game by a spectacular Pomeranian overhead kick. That put us top of our group of 3. More... [edit] BFC open title defence with 5-0 winDifferent captain, same sort of result. Early days but Morson's first competitive game in charge ended in a 5-0 evisceration of Saitama JETs in sweaty conditions more suited to sucking ice lollies down at the beach. There was also nice symmetry for BFC in reversing that humiliating Cup final defeat by the Little Green Men. More... [edit] Oops! No double for BFCAs double bids go, BFC's attempt to add the Footy Japan Cup to their TML title went very badly, ending in a 5-0 humping by Tokyo Hibernian. Without taking away from a deserved Hibs win, only a brilliantly taken third goal was truly worthy of a final between the TML's top two teams. More... [edit] Oh yeah ... We're champions again!Bit anti-climactic though it was, BFC were crowned TML 1 champions for the second year running when Hibs (with sledgehammer irony) beat Sala 2-1 or sumfing...or nuffink. Fought you might wanna know ... A few of us fancied playing Sala in our final game with the title still on the line but, on reflection, are grateful they can go on their holidays with their kneecaps still intact. Bonnet de douche. We have booked Footniks Osaki for end-of-season party and AGM. here... [edit] Goodnight and God BlessThe Vagabonds said a reluctant goodbye to the first division today, losing 4-2 to Saitama Jets. Humpty Dumpty. Jets got off to a flying start with two, dare I say, flattering goals – both glancing headers - during the first ten minutes. A long distance shot made it 3-0 a minute before halftime More.... [edit] One to go. BFC 3-0 CeltsFor a 3-0 victory, this one was particularly hard fought. A first half goal from Evans gave BFC the advantage at the break despite it being BFC's only chance of note in an otherwise lackluster first 40 minutes from the defending champions. [edit] BFC return to formA tremendous performance from BFC meant that rivals Hibs only got to enjoy top spot for two hours, raising the interesting question of whether the men in green will still write a report ... More... [edit] Four points clearBFC put recent workmanlike performances behind them to win their crucial top-of-the-table clash against rivals Hibernian. An early penalty from Carlos and a fantastic second-half finish from Taka saw BFC secure a well deserved 2-0 victory. Four points clear with three to play. More...
